Investment 20241101

Up a lot during the month, trimmed a bit toward the end but still end up major positive.

Mainly from the gain in gold prices.

I’ve already written other posts about gold, can see the big shift I have here with the gold investment.

Current Portfolio:

HKD/USD cash: 12.93% (10.72%)

USD ST bonds: 12.51% (27.44%)

USD stocks: 15.87% (15.57%)

Gold (USD): 37.17% (19.38%)

Bitcoin (USD): 7.55% (5.25%)

JPY stocks: 14.36% (14.85%)

YEN cash: 15.62% (18.79%)

YEN shorts: -16.01% (-11.99%)

Beside getting rid of LT treasuries, I’ve also decided I will get rid of all treasuries altogether.

Will write a post on the devaluation of the USD right after this, but the gist of it is, if I wanted to put any cash aside, just put it into gold instead.

US Equity

Looking just fine and pretty much staying put here.

JP Equity

same old pretty much, also staying put here.

Gold

The craziness with gold continues – +4% for the month.

I think it won’t keep being that crazy but it probably won’t stop either.

Again I am just thinking of gold as the “new cash” now. A cash that is safer than actual cash.

Also went into yen shorts to buy up more gold, since gold is definitely safer than fiat-yen. Going to short all yen cash position now, thinking of adding an extra 10-20% of that to it later.

The logic is – if I want to buy a house, I need debt to get something decent. And if prices keep going up (fiat-yen keeps going down), then even the gain from the gold wouldn’t be enough to catch up. I’d need leveraged gold to make the return that can help me catch up.

Crypto

Crypto finally had its breakthrough, hitting almost ATH around 72k before coming back down to 69k for now.

I would kind of expect to see 80k soon although maybe a harris presidency might give it some headwind for the time being.

MSTR kinda went crazy hitting NAV premium 3x but have calmed a bit since. I thought it was overvalued at 3x but just can’t tell how crazy people are, so I don’t dare to try to trade or time it. Just going to rebalance so 3439 and MSTR is 50/50.
