Investment 20240901

Started out as a completely shitty month but rebounded for the most part.

Anyways I have developed a solid strategy due to last month and this month’s volatility and feels much more secure about the investments now.

Going to be more focused on the business while keeping an eye on the happenings moving forward.

Current Portfolio:

HKD/USD cash: 13.25% (20.4%)

USD ST bonds: 27.34% (44.0%)

USD stocks: 15.95% (14.6%)

USD LT bonds: 6.55% (6.2%)

Gold (USD): 16.57% (14.8%)

Bitcoin (USD): 3.90% (3%)

JPY stocks: 16.38% (16.6%)

YEN cash: 5.87% (6.0%)

YEN shorts: -5.80% (-25.6%)

Biggest change would be selling of the bonds and covering the yen shorts, reducing now yen shorts to only -5.8%.

Also increased my gold position, as I’ve been hearing more and more great things about the next 5-10 years outlook on gold. More below.

Slowly increasing the bitcoin holding as well, DCA-ing it up to 5% before the bull run.

US Equity

Fully rebounded then kind of flat from there.

Nothing exciting there, just keeping it around 15-16% (now around 16 because cash diminished from poor business profits)

JP Equity

same as JP equity. Also I must say I’m surprised to see JP equity holding up amidst the strong yen.

Anyway just holding it around 16% here as well.

USD.JPY

After the big drop it’s gotten kind of stable around 145 recently. It’s kind of the new normal I guess.

In any case, I’ve significantly trimmed down the carry-trade positions. I’ve left just a little bit there since the interest rate differential is still large and I think it’s very likely that it has bottomed.

However the downside is still there though especially if the U.S. head into a recession, so I am limiting my risk exposure here.

Crypto

Very unexciting month, not too much ups and downs beside the huge drop at the beginning of the month.

In any case, got my bitcoins in the cold wallet with a metal seed phrase case, which feels much more secure now.

Just waiting for it to either drop more and I’ll buy again, or waiting for the next bull run.
